Anjali Sivaramakrishnan, PhD, PT

Assistant Professor

Lab Director

Anjali Sivaramakrishnan is an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the School of Health Professions at UT Health San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Sivaramakrishnan’s background includes a Bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy from Sancheti Institute College of Physiotherapy and a Master’s degree in physiotherapy in neurosciences from Manipal University. She completed her PhD in rehabilitation sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has over 10 years of experience in the rehabilitation of individuals with disorders such as stroke, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s Disease, and other disorders.

Gustavo J Almeida, PT, Ph.D.

Associate Professor

Lab Director

Dr. Almeida received his PT degree and training in Brazil and has over 18 years of clinical experience focusing on Sports and Orthopedics Rehabilitation. He obtained his PhD in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Pittsburgh and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at UT Health San Antonio. His research focuses on interventions to improve physical function and activity in individuals with arthritis. More specifically, Dr. Almeida is currently testing the feasibility of using blood-flow restriction during prehabilitation in individuals awaiting total knee replacement

Jeffrey Kallberg, PT, DPT, RMSK

Associate Professor

Jeffrey Kallberg, PT, DPT, RMSK, serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at UT Health San Antonio. He brings more than three decades of clinical experience to his teaching in Clinical Foundations I & II and Management of the Complex Patient. A registered musculoskeletal sonographer (RMSK), his academic and clinical interests center on integrating MSK ultrasound into physical therapy practice and education and advancing conservative management strategies for orthopedic and bleeding-disorder populations. He has worked extensively with hemophilia treatment teams and speaks on the role of ultrasound in assessment and rehabilitation. Dr. Kallberg holds a BS in Physical Therapy (University of Minnesota) and a DPT (University of South Dakota).

Mia Rodriguez

Research Coordinator/Assitant

Mia Rodriguez received her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and is a Research Assistant and Coordinator in the Department of Physical Therapy at UT Health San Antonio. She coordinates clinical research studies in Parkinson’s disease, conducting participant assessments and intervention sessions, collaborating with multiple departments, and analyzing study data. Her work focuses on advancing clinical trials to evaluate motor function and develop data-driven interventions for individuals with Parkinson’s disease.

Jamie Ambriz

Research Assistant/SPT

I am a second-year DPT student and currently serve as the work-study assistant for the MOVER Lab. Alongside pursuing my career in physical therapy, I plan to earn a PhD to further contribute to research and clinical practice.

Aixa Rojas-Bustamante

Research Assistant/SPT

I am a second year DPT student from El Paso, TX. Additionally, I serve as a work-study research assistant for the MOVER Lab. I intend to specialize in neurorehabilitation with the goal of contributing to research and clinical practice that enhances recovery outcomes for the well-being of my community.  

Austin Loving

My undergraduate is in exercise science with a concentration in pre-rehabilitation at Texas State University, located in my hometown. I feel that studying neurology is a foundational aspect of Physical Therapy.

I am from Corpus Christi, Texas, and I am passionate about strength training. In addition to working with the MOVER Lab, I also plan to become a sports physical therapist.
