Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) Study:

Our program is providing no-cost psychotherapy for adolescents and teens who have experienced a trauma. The goal is to measure how the brain is changing throughout the therapy process. Click here to learn more about participation in our program.

Texas Childhood Trauma Research Network (TX-CTRN):

Our program aims to gather information from youth and their caregivers to better understand how to measure, treat and prevent the lasting effects of trauma in youth. Visits include clinical interviews and questionnaires done every six months over a 2-year period. Click here to learn more about participation in our program.

Improvements in Brain Function during Psychotherapy for Teens with Posttraumatic Stress

This study measured how brain function changed when adolescents received therapy for symptoms of posttraumatic stress. As a part of this study, participants underwent a widely-used psychotherapy along with MRI scans before, during, and after the therapy or treatment. This allowed us to measure how the brain is changing during this time, which could help us to improve psychotherapy for other patients in the future. Also, this study aimed to help us to understand how traumatic experiences affect the brain and how the brain recovers when symptoms improve.
