Novel signaling pathway in the mouse retina

NIH-funded postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Ching-Kang Jason Chen ( in the Departments of Molecular Medicine and Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio), located in the city of San Antonio at the foothill of the Edwards Plateau in South Texas. The lab is supported by NEI R01 grants, UT STARs, and RRF to study the mechanism and functions of a novel phototransduction pathway in the mouse retina. This project relies heavily on electrophysiology and mouse genetics and therefore offers plenty training opportunities in discipline integration and procedural development, not to mention the generation of exciting and novel knowledge. Qualifications. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent), with noticeable bench and communication skill that contribute to the advancement of the project. Experience in patch-clamp and whole-cell recordings is preferred. In addition to competitive salary (>$60K/year) and fringe benefits, successful candidates will be provided with ample supports for developing her/his independent research projects after the postdoctoral training. All postdoctoral appointments are security sensitive positions subject to background check.
